Fall is finally here! For me, this time of year is all about spending time with loved ones. It’s a beautiful time to be outdoors and there are so many things to do. When the weather starts getting a bit chilly, there’s no better feeling than to cozy up inside with family and enjoy some hot spicy drinks. I also look forward to hosting a get-together to reconnect with friends after a busy summer.
As a chef, the dining table is the center of my home. It’s where I spend the most precious quality time with loved ones. Growing up in an Italian family, sharing a meal together was a tradition- one that I kept when I started my own family. The dining table is also where I can let my personality shine through. For fall, I love decorating the table with an elegant assortment of pumpkins, flowers and greenery. Can’t forget the candles- they really set the mood and create that warm feeling we all love about this time of year. I like the contrast of glamorous place settings against a rustic table or tablecloth. Using copper flatware and plates is a great way to add that glamorous touch with a seasonal feel.
When it comes to decorating your home for the season, it’s all about neutral earthy tones with pops of autumn colors- rusty orange, warm yellows, and deep reds. Consider using bunches of eucalyptus as an accent to your decorations- it has a very clean look that contrasts with rustic fall colors, creating a seasonal yet chic look. You can buy it fresh (if available), but artificial bunches from your local craft store will do the trick. While you’re there, check out some artificial flowers. White magnolias & peonies are great for fall. Of course, it’s not fall without pumpkins! This year, I’m loving the look of white pumpkins. They’re available almost anywhere (I bought some at the grocery store!). However you choose to decorate this fall season, the most important part is that it reflects your style and personality!
If you’re hosting a get together this fall, try my Fig & Pig Pizza using figs, guanciale and Galbani cheese!
